What are some young adult high fantasy books?
Q. So again, what are some young adult high fantasy books? I'm thinking of writing one so I'd like to know what else is on the market. Also, if you've read them could you share your opinion?

A. hush hush by becca fitzpatrick - the writing wasn't brilliant but the story line and characters made up for that. It's about a girl who falls for the fallen. Wicked lovely series - it's about faeries but the main character is one I read a lot about - stubborn, allways gets her own way, her opinion is the one that's right. She is stupid and grrr. And the book itself goes on and on about boring stuff it's like - get to the point!!! house of night - the main girl is ridiculous. All the boys fall over her and she hates cows and A luts and becomes the biggest one of them. The "twins" are so annoying you want to shoot them. It's about a stupid idiot that goes to a vampyre (yeah, it's spelt like that LOL) Academy school thing and… [cont.]

A. These books all have that kind of medevil fantasy thing going on. I hope you like them. I know I did. :) Graceling- Kristin Cashore -Graceling takes readers inside the world of Katsa, a warrior-girl in her late teens with one blue eye and one green eye. This gives her haunting beauty, but also marks her as a Graceling. Gracelings are beings with special talentsa swimming, storytelling, dancing. Katsa's Grace is considered more useful: her ability to fight (and kill, if she wanted to) is unequaled in the seven kingdoms. Forced to act as a henchman for a manipulative king, Katsa channels her guilt by forming a secret council of like-minded citizens who carry out secret missions to promote justice over cruelty and abuses of power. A. You may want to try a few more of Robin McKinley's (who wrote The Hero and the Crown) other books. ... Tamora Pierce is someone you should look into. Start with her Song of the Lioness Quartet. The first book in the series is Alanna: The First Adventure by Tamora Pierce: Eleven-year-old Alanna, who aspires to be a knight even though she is a girl, disguises herself as a boy to become a royal page, a learning many hard less along her path to high adventure. ... Q. I need to read other books, preferably fantasy, to heal my damaged eyes from reading twilight *cringe* You see, friends recommended this wretched book and I was completely disappointed in it. But anyways, I want to read fantasy books that is just a "fun read" like the Phantom Tollbooth or Alice in Wonderland. What other books are like this? Something that is a feel good book?

A. its good when the evil is actually evil. not just "wants to take over the world" but you actually hate the villain and they are genuinely scary when you read about them - that always makes for a good story. Its also more interesting when the story sort of explores the Fantasy world, like in harry potter how you learn more and more about it and get sucked into it. There should be a little bit of a love story (not massive like twilight if you want boys to read it) but a little bit of lovey dovey tension between some characters. the book would also be more popular if, as well as magical problems, the characters faced some that are relative to the real world, but with a twist. If you make it so that no one can relate to any of the… [cont.]

How can a group of young teens publish their fantasy books they'll writing?
Q. My friends and I are currently between 14-15, in hopes to publish our books. The books we writing are fantasy-type for other young teens of our age. How can we publish our books that wouldn't discourage us that much?
Asked by Silver Y - Sat Feb 16 16:54:27 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. In the same way an adult would. Write to a publisher who publishes fantasy books. However, there is a lot of protocol and things involved, for that, google it, there are plenty of help sites. It may take very long for you to receive an answer though. If you are not accepted, don't be discouraged, write to a different publisher instead. (Or write to multiple at the same time) By the way, for a help site, you could try www.bloomsbury.com, they have a section on it.

A. I read these books and love them. They are about wild cats that live in the forest. Separated by four Clans. The Clans fight, hunt, explore, etc. The Clans are ThunderClan, RiverClan, Windclan, and ShadowClan. There is not one "bad Clan," they only fight if cats from other Clans invade their territory. Though, if a Clan is taken over by a bad leader, they will be causing the most trouble. The books are focused on LightningClan. The whole first series is based on a kittypet(house-cat) named Rusty. Though his name changes when he joins the Clan and always starts with Fire. Cat names start with something unique about them. Firepaw(Rusty)'s name starts with Fire, because his pelt is as orange as flame. The order goes like this: Kit,… [cont.]

Any fantasy books with young black female protaginists?
Q. I love fantasy books. That is the main genre I've books that I read. I try not to be picky and wish that there was a young black female in every fantasy book and I know some people say there doesn't need to be but it's nice to read a book and have someone to relate to appearance wise. Most fantasy books I read center around a white protagonist and that's not a bad thing but I'd just like to read a fantasy book with a young black female character. Any suggestions?

A. "Justice and Her Brothers" by Virginia Hamilton "This story of a psychically gifted eleven-year-old girl and her coming into her powers is the first in a trilogy, and much of the story, too, seems a setting-up for bigger things to come. The story has two strains: on the realistic level, Justice fiercely anticipates the Great Snake Race for which her brother Tom is organizing the neighborhood boys; she practices secretly for a bike trick she will perform for them all on the way to the snake swamp; and, it turns out, she misunderstands the terms of the race, which almost leads to her mortifying embarrassment.
