Can you recommend some good science fiction/fantasy books?
Q. I would really like to start reading more but I don't really know where to start. I've read all the Harry Potter books of course. I've read a lot of Michael Crichton's books. The last book I read was The Man in the High Castle by Philip K. Dick and I thought that was okay. I'm thinking about checking out the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series. What other books can you suggest?

A. Air, Geoff Ryman Glasshouse, Charles Stross Counting Heads, David Marusek Dragon's Egg, Robert L Forward Each is different, the middle two are especially different. Well written, some mind stretching.

Books to read for Science Fiction/Fantasy?
Q. I really love the genres Science Fiction and Fantasy. If anyone has any good books from either genre I'd love it. I've already read the Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer, The Host by Stephenie Meyer, and I'm reading the Uglies Series by Scott Westerfeld. Thanks!

A. Science Fiction covers a wide range of sub-genres, you may prefer one type over another. The first few of the "Dune" novels as previously mentioned are excellent if you enjoy political and military conflict. You might want to check out the list of hugo award winners, as this is Science Fiction's equivalent of an Oscar. If you liked "The Lord of the Rings" movies, you might enjoy reading the original trilogy by Tolkien. It was MUCH better than the movies, great as they are. A shorter read, and I think better group of characters, in the same world as "The Lord of the Rings" is the earlier Tolkien novel "The Hobbit". The "Foundation" and "Robot" series by Issac Assimov are excellent. (source for "I,Robot" movie) If you like the military… [cont.]
